Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is smocked clothing?

Smocking is a classic hand-embroidery technique that gathers fabric into beautiful, stretchy pleats — often with embroidered details like florals, geometric designs, or appliqués. It's a timeless style passed down through generations, and it's what makes our dresses, bubbles, and rompers so picture-perfect for holidays, portraits, and everyday sweet moments.

What sizes do you carry?

We offer classic smocked styles for babies and kids across our collections. Each product page shows the sizes currently available for that style — please check the size options listed on the product you're shopping, and reach out to us if you need help picking between sizes.

Do you offer matching sibling outfits?

Yes! Matching sibling sets are one of our favorite things to create. Many of our collections include coordinating pieces so brothers and sisters can match for holidays, church, photos, and special occasions.

Who is behind The Smocked Flamingo?

We're Melanie and Hayley, a mother-daughter duo from Central Kentucky with a deep love for classic children's clothing and all things smocked. What began as a dream inspired by our sweet Ellie grew into an even bigger passion with the addition of Henry. Thank you for being part of our journey!

Do you offer seasonal collections?

We do! Look for our seasonal drops throughout the year — Christmas, Easter, fall, summer, and school collections — plus collegiate and custom name smocks. Join our email list to be the first to know when new collections arrive.

How do I care for smocked garments?

Smocked pieces are made to last, but a little care keeps them looking their best. Always follow the care instructions on the garment's label — when in doubt, wash gently and lay flat or hang to dry to protect the embroidery.

How can I contact you?
